01Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Aavin Labs, LLC ("Aavin Labs", "we", "us") handles information in connection with our website at aavinlabs.com and our email client application, Aether Mail (the "App"). By using the site or the App, you agree to the practices described here.
02Our approach in short
Aether Mail is built to keep your data with you. The App connects directly from your device to your mail servers and to the AI provider you choose. We designed it so that we do not receive, store, or proxy your email content, your mail credentials, or your AI API keys on our own servers.
03Information handled by the App
- Mail account credentials and settings. The server addresses, ports, usernames, and passwords you enter to connect via IMAP, POP3, or SMTP are stored locally on your device and used only to connect to your mail servers.
- Email content. Your messages, attachments, and folders are retrieved from your mail servers to your device so the App can display and manage them. This content stays on your device except when you direct the App to send it to an AI provider (see below).
- AI API keys (BYOK). If you bring your own key for Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, or another provider, that key is stored locally on your device. AI requests go directly from your device to the provider. We do not see your key and do not route these requests through our servers.
04Information we collect directly
- Contact details. If you join our waitlist, contact support, or sign up for an account, we collect the information you give us, such as your name and email address.
- Diagnostics and usage. We may collect limited, anonymized diagnostic and crash data solely to keep the App stable and reliable. We do not use this data to identify you or track your activity across other apps or services.
- Payment information. Purchases made through the App are processed by Apple, and purchases made through our website are handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store full payment card details.
05How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to operate and improve the App and site, respond to your requests, provide support, process any purchases, and communicate with you about the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your email to advertise to you.
06Third-party services
When you use the App, you interact directly with services you choose and control:
- Your mail providers (for example Gmail, Outlook, Fastmail, or a self-hosted server), governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
- Your chosen AI provider (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or DeepSeek). Content you send for AI features is processed under that provider's privacy policy. Review their terms to understand how they handle your data.
07Data retention and security
Information handled locally by the App remains on your device and is removed when you delete the App or clear its data. For the limited information we collect directly, we retain it only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
08Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights; we do not sell personal information. To make any request, contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law.
09Children
The App and site are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the site or App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
